When I first pulled up to the Charlton’s downtown Boise early 1900’s home, I was ecstatic. Not only did their home have so much charm and light (every photography dream), but I was going to get to take pics of their newborn baby boy, Clark, and boy what a cutie!
I was so pleased when Ashley reached out to me to do some updated family photos of them with their now 6th month old son, Alex! It felt like just yesterday I was doing his newborn session, but here he was a smiley, interactive and adorable 8 month old.
Today I am sharing part 1 of Madison’s senior portrait session. Madi went with my seasonal deluxe senior portrait package which meant she had a session with me in the fall as well in the spring!
Spring in Boise is always a welcome change after a LOOOONG cold winter. Spring this year brought a number of maternity and newborn shoots for me and I couldn’t be more thrilled to capture this sweet time for these families.
For Derek and Sierra’s engagement photos we met out at Lake Lowell in Nampa, Idaho. It was the beginning of February and a little chilly. I told them it was all the more reason to get nice and cuddly, and that is just what they did.
When Derek reached out to me to ask if I would take photos of his proposal to his girlfriend Sierra, I was ecstatic! I was also nervous since I new this was going to be a big moment to capture. I didn’t want to miss the moment, or give away the surprise. After Derek and I chatted a few times the plan was set, and the day arrived.
We started off George’s newborn shoot with some shots of his twin sisters. They were so excited to show me their room and their stuffed animals, and so I took the opportunity to take some shots of them in their room.
When Tate and I were discussing her ideas for her and fiancé Briden’s engagement photos, the options were either beach (they live in southern California) or snow. Well we banked on snow, and it just so happened that Boise got hit with a huge snowstorm over Christmas break.
So the truth about why I enjoy senior portrait sessions so much…might just be that I’m still a high schooler at heart. Surri and I had so much fun exploring around Hyde Park and Camel’s Back Park for her senior portraits.
The Tuckers are some of our dearest friends and it was a sad day for us when they moved home to Washington state a couple years ago. BUT, now they are back in the lovely state of Idaho and we are so excited to get to spend more time with them and see our boys grow up together!
Fall is by far the most popular time for family photography in Boise and it is not hard to understand why. Idaho has the privilege of getting to experience a true fall where the leaves turn from green to a wide array of deep red, orange, yellow or brown.
It is crazy to think that just 7 months ago, my own family was in this stage; one little boy with another on the way, and now he is already half a year old! Time sure flies. This family, however, was expecting a baby girl and surprisingly she made her appearance a little early before I could deliver their maternity session images!
Prior to becoming a full time photographer, I worked at Micron here in the valley and that is when I met Christina and her husband Alex. I hadn’t seen them since I left my job at Micron over 3 years ago and so I was so happy when Christina contacted me and asked if I would take newborn photos for their 2nd baby boy.
For Lydia’s Senior portraits, Lydia requested flowers and her mom wanted the Boise foothills, and so we were able to find a good combination of both. First we met at Edwards Greenhouse and did a few photos in their outdoor gardens. Lydia loves watercolor painting and so we were able to incorporate that into the shoot.
Maternity photos are among my favorite to capture because I truly believe there is nothing or no one more beautiful than a pregnant mama. This session in particular was one of my favorites because I got to capture my husband, Brian’s, cousin JulieAnne.
As a mom of two boys, there will always be a soft spot in my heart for baby boys, so it was an honor to meet the Mauchley family and their sweet baby boy, Alexander.
For Hailei’s senior portrait session, we started in the foothills where we found some wild sunflowers. After a short hike, we found a view of the mountains to the north. Even though it was a bit smokey that day, it still made for an interesting vantage point.
The Anderson Family welcomed their first baby girl, Leni June, in May. I had the honor of photographing her lifestyle newborn session when she was two weeks old.
This maternity session was so near and dear to me because it was with one of my dear friends Gabby and her husband Chris. I could say so much about these two and what they mean to me, but I’ll try to keep it short and sweet.
When Robin first reached out to me about scheduling a photoshoot of her family, she was so sweet and wrote, “I've been looking through portfolios of local family photographers and your images instantly brought tears to my eyes! You've captured such beautiful, intimate images of families in their unique element.” Her words were so kind and encouraging, I couldn’t wait to work with her and her family!
