Maternity
Why Maternity Photography
From finding out your are pregnant, to meeting your baby for the first time, the 9 months you are pregnant is a crazy time, and a woman’s body is extraordinary for what it can do to grow and sustain a human life. I 100% believe every woman’s body is beautiful, especially while pregnant, and worth capturing in this season. For all of the changes you are going through while pregnant, some welcome and some difficult, your body is beautiful, amazing and capable of bringing new life into the world. Celebrate it and document it!
This maternity session is a great example of how light colored, neutral outfits help the subjects stand out against the background. This session took place right around the transition from summer to fall here in Boise and so we ended up having a mix of greens as well as oranges, yellows and reds in the background.
Savanah wanted to do her newborn session in a studio and had a vision for a fun and intimate session with her husband. For this session I got to try out a new(ish) studio in Boise and it did not disappoint!
I first met the Henault family when I did their family photos last fall. I saw them again when I did a motherhood session with Alex and her daughter last spring, and so I was thrilled when she contacted me over the summer and told me she was expecting and wanted me to do maternity and newborn photos!
This maternity session had beautiful skies, warm weather, and a sweet couple waiting to meet their baby girl. Often for maternity shoots I like to ask my couples to bring an ultrasound picture to use for a prop in a few photos.
Sara and Robert’s maternity session this spring reminded me why I love spring photo sessions. A highlight was when we were walking up the hill to our final location and discovered the hillside was covered in blooming lupines.
The fall colors in Boise were really popping for this maternity session. Fall is really something special in Boise, but it goes by fast!
The evening of this maternity session one of those random Boise summer storms rolled in. The weather app showed it ending before we were scheduled to start and so I was banking on that being the case.
One thing I love about summer shoots in Boise is the beautiful wildflowers that pop up sometimes unexpectedly all over the valley and especially the foothills.
Cloudy day shoots often turn out to be some of my favorite because they make for such epic skies. This maternity shoot was no exception and Amber and Trevor were so much fun.
I had the privilege of meeting Mindy & Cody for their maternity session. They are pregnant with their first baby, a boy. We met out at Lake Lowell in Nampa for their maternity session.
