Family Session on the Farm | Idaho Family Photography
Family photos can be especially special when captured in a place that is near and dear to your family’s heart. This session was a great example of that as it took place on the family’s quaint hobby farm nestled on the banks of the Snake river in Eastern Oregon — complete with two gentle Highland cows who nearly stole the show!
The October evening had the perfect weather, golden sunshine filtered through the trees, wrapping the whole farm in the dreamiest glow. We spent the evening exploring the property — from the old wooden fence that framed the pasture to the cozy fire pit that bordered the pond. I always encourage families to choose a location that means something to them, and this session was the perfect example of why. There’s a different kind of magic when your photos are taken somewhere familiar — where your kids can be themselves, where everyone’s at ease, and where your story truly unfolds.
The Highland cows, with their shaggy coats and curious eyes, added a lot of fun to the shoot. The family brushed them and fed them carrots while I took shot after shoot. The often wanted to follow me, probably curious about whether my camera was something they could munch.
If you’re dreaming of a family session that feels relaxed, personal, and full of heart — whether it’s on your own land, in your backyard, or at your favorite outdoor spot — I’d love to help you capture it.
