A Scoop of Sweet News: A Family Session with a Surprise Twist

There’s something that makes me giddy about photographing a growing family—especially when the session involves ice cream, giggles, and a sweet surprise.

When the Wortham family reached out to announce their fourth baby, they wanted to do something a little different for their pregnancy announcement. Something playful, fun, and unexpected. So, we headed to a new local ice cream shop, Soft Landing Soft Serve, where a swirl of sugar and a warm spring day set the perfect stage for their announcement.

With three little ones full of personality and energy, the ice cream shop was more than a setting—it was an experience. They picked out their favorite flavors, gathered around the table and shared bites of ice cream, goofy grins, and the kind of candid chaos only siblings can create.

And then came the cherry on top: the announcement. In the most adorable way, they revealed Baby #4 is on the way… and it’s a girl! A simple sign that read “A sweet surprise is coming…November 2025”, 1, 2, 3 and 4 balloons, an ultrasound picture of baby and a pink onesie that read “sis.” was the perfect way to share their exciting new. It was lighthearted and full of love—exactly how a growing family should be celebrated.

As a maternity and family photographer, sessions like these are why I do what I do. They’re not just about posed portraits—they’re about capturing stories in real life, sticky fingers included. Whether it’s in a blooming field, a nursery, or an ice cream shop, the heart of a family always shines through.
