Capturing Your Newborn Story: Understanding the Cost of Newborn Photography
Are you interested in newborn photography, but you're worried about the cost? When I found out I was pregnant with my first baby, as a photographer, I knew I was going to photograph the heck out of our baby. I mean how could I not? Tiny fingers, tiny toes…tiny everything, not to mention those smoochy cheeks. What I wasn’t sure about, is if I would hire someone else take newborn photos for us. In the end I decided it was 100% worth it to have all three of my baby’s newborn photos captured and I was so glad I did. Now I get it; newborn photography can be expensive, and it's important to understand why.

Newborn photography requires a specialized skill set and experience
As a lifestyle newborn photographer, I’m not just a skilled photographer, but I also have a deep understanding of newborns and the postpartum process. I know how to work with low light situations, safely pose newborns, put the baby’s and parent’s needs first, and most importantly, I know how to capture the moments that matter most.
Newborn photography takes time
Newborns can be unpredictable and I tailor the session to their needs. As your newborn photographer, I am prepared to pause the sessions for a feeding (or two), and I'll often spend several minutes rocking or patting baby to sleep. There is also added editing that goes into a newborn session to ensure baby’s skin is soft and smooth and meets my high standards and your expectations.
The cost of newborn photography includes more than just the time spent photographing and editing the photos
It also covers the cost of professional-grade camera equipment, including cameras, lenses, lighting, and editing software. Although lifestyle newborn photography includes minimal props, I do bring a few swaddles, blankets, and a woven bassinet to newborn sessions to use if needed. Additionally, as a newborn photographer, I invest in ongoing training and education to improve my skills and stay up-to-date with the latest techniques and trends.
How much is a lifestyle newborn photography session?
